Co-expression

Visualization

Visualization is a key part of any data analysis project. Our tool differs from other on-line expression analysis systems in that we advise users to take advantage of desktop visualization tools to view expression data and analysis results, rather than rely on us to know in advance precisely what you would need to see in order to understand and interpret the data. In general, it's hard for a web-based visualization tool to match the flexibility and general utility of a desktop software program; since there are already some great ones available, we prefer to show you how to use those instead of building more limited web-based versions for our Web site.

Whatever time you invest in learning to use desktop visualization tools will help you work with data you get from us, but it will also pay off with other projects where you need to view and explore large-to-medium scale data sets. So to help you get started, we provide a couple of short vignettes describing how you might use two freely-available, open source tools - Cytoscape and TableView - to visualize co-expression data.

TableView: Click here for the TableView vignette.

Cytoscape: Click here for directions on using CytoScape to view Pathway-Level Co-expression results.
